Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 8, 2026

Christian Worldschoolers (“we”, “us”) is a community platform for Christian families who learn and travel the world together. Families trust us with real information about their households, so we treat privacy as a design principle, not a checkbox. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Account information — your email address and a password (managed by our authentication provider; we never see or store your password itself).
  • Family profile — the details you choose to share: family display name, who is registering (mom, dad, or teen), household type, denomination, your testimony, a family photo, bio, interests, family styles, current city, and planned or past destinations.
  • Children’s information — birth month, birth year, and gender only. We deliberately do not collect children’s names. See How we protect children’s information below.
  • Contact channels — the ways you prefer to be reached (email, WhatsApp, and similar), used by the platform to deliver notifications you asked for.
  • Messages and posts — connection requests, direct messages, forum posts, and the places, resources, and missions you contribute.
  • Payment information — if you subscribe or donate, payments are processed by Stripe. We store your subscription status and payment references, never your card number.
  • Technical data — the basic logs any web host records (IP address, browser type, pages requested), used for security and to keep the site working.

How we protect children’s information

  • We store only birth month/year and gender — no names. Other members only ever see computed ages (for example, “kids 7, 9, 13”); birth dates themselves are never shown.
  • Children do not have accounts. Teens (13+) may have an account only when linked to their parent’s fully registered account, with restricted features: teen accounts do not appear in the family directory or on the map, and cannot exchange messages with adults outside their own family.
  • We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

The world map and what others can see

  • You choose your precision — your family appears on the member map at city level, country level, or not at all. You can change this any time.
  • The public map is coarser — visitors who are not signed in see only country-level counts (“12 families in Thailand”) and generic place labels. No family names, cities, or children’s data are ever shown publicly.
  • Becoming a “Welcomer” (a local contact point for traveling families) is a separate, explicit opt-in whose visibility is spelled out when you volunteer.
  • Your contact-channel handles (your WhatsApp number, email, and so on) are never shown to other members. The platform uses them to deliver notifications; you decide what to share once you’re talking with a family.
  • Your testimony is used for vetting only — it is visible to administrators, never to other members.
  • Anonymous forum posts (available to parents in the parents-only forum) hide your name from other members; authorship is retained internally for moderation and safety.

How we use your information

  • To match and surface compatible families — that is the product.
  • To operate vetting, membership, trials, and billing.
  • To send the notifications you choose (connection requests, new resources, and similar) plus essential account and membership emails.
  • To moderate content and keep the community safe.

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising. We share data only with the service providers below, and only so they can run the platform for us.

Service providers

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Vercel — website hosting.
  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Resend — email delivery.

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and remember your theme preference. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account exists. You can update your profile at any time in Settings, and you can request deletion of your account and family data from the delete-account page (also available in the app’s Settings) or by emailing us. We may retain limited records where needed for safety (for example, moderation history) or required by law.

Your rights

You may request a copy of the information we hold about your family, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@christianworldschoolers.com and we will respond as promptly as we can.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify members by email before the changes take effect.
